life...is...short...

I am here now to write a little something. life is short, life is something we need to embrace. friday i was woken up by a phone call to inform me of a formor pastors granddaughter being shot and killed in the niu shootings. ryanne mace was the granddaughter of rev. miley palmer who served at my home church until his retirement in 1998. he has filled in a few weekends, and i have chatted with him since my coming to lincoln christian college.
how does life mean nothing one day and the next we do not even have the life we took for granted. i do not understand the whole death and dying more so in a young child or young person. so much to live for cut short. all because someone decided one day to go in start shooting and then leave images in the minds of everyone else.
over the weekend six high school students were in a car accident outside of lincoln. four passed away, and two will go on wondering why, and have emotional scars that no one can heal. life is a gift and i am not sure about any of you but io have taken it for granted.
my dad was killed when i was two years old. his borthday would have been today...the 18th...the hardest thing i will have to do is go to his burial site to say "happy birthday dad." i do not get to sing, i do not get to pick out a dad card, and i do not get to hug him. i know my dad loves me, and i know that he is is heaven looking down and many times rolling his eyes. most of all i know that my dad was and still is very proud of me.
my challenge to whoever reads this is to take your life, look at it, and make sure you are doing what you want to do, and make sure you are seeing what you do that needs to change. however most of all mkae sure you are telling the ones you love that you love them, call your parents, call your grandparents, and the brothers and sisters that drive you crazy.
if you are a parent take your kids, read to them, sit and play, pray with them, most of all make sure your kids know that you love them, and you will be there at anytime...if you are a child that cant stand your parents because they have rules, and make you do your homework....embrace it because at any moment they could be taken. trust me....my dad went to work, and i never seen him agian, and at two i was daddys little girl...what two year old isnt?
so friends and family i love you, and i pray that you read this and it hits you, and you make the call you need to make. tomorrow is not promised and in this world today people forget that, and when they remember it is too late.

Purex, Tide, All, and Surf

I had went to Wal Mart last night to get some drugs...the legal kind...because I have the full blown flu which SUCKS...but I digress...

Anyway I needed bleach so I went down to the bleach department...and it was right then did I realize there are more choices of laundry soap then there are cookies. I think we notice things more in depth when we are coughing, contagious, and feeling like death is near.

Who thinks of these things? Toothpaste is the sameway. Whatever happen to plain toothpaste. Now we have Crest Pro Health, Colgate with breath strips, and of course whiting, extra whiting, and cavity protection....SERIOUSLY

Well I am off to bed...goodnight and blessing!

Superbowl, Insane weather, and the FLU!!

Well this winter has been one of historic weather odditys <----(is that a word?) Anyway we had 12 inches of snow here at LCC, and just 2 days later we had lighting, thunder, sleet, rain, and SNOW...better name for it is THUNDERSNOW!!! Yes will it ever happen agian...who knows all I know is that snow and rain all in 2 days made for a muddy mess everywhere and college kids find that mess, and make a bigger one:P I was not apart of it I just watched and listened from my dorm room! ITs crazy ONLY in Illinois can it be 60 degrees one day and less then 12 hours can it be in the negitives and blizzarding!!!

The Superbowl was this past weekend and all I have to say is that the Manning brothers are pretty much the HOT topic of the NFL. MANY of you know I am a Peyton fan, but I was routing for Eli last Sunday, and with an AWESOME end of the game preformance the New York Giants took history away from New England...whcih was great for me because I am an Indianapolis Colts fan, and two years in a row one of the Manning brothers as beat Tom Brady!!!

Not only was it the Superbowl, but it was the birthday of our dorm mom here in Ruth Hall. Caryn Collins celebrated in style....with about 30 college students in the first floor lounge, watching football, and I am sure eating pizza or Jimmy John's. A few of us stuck to the lobby and decorated her office and front door... Take a look at the pictures. She enjoyed every mintue of it....even sweeping up the birthday confetti I thought was greatly needed!!!!

The FLU has hit Ruth Hall hard. I have managed to get both the stomach flu and Influenza A...which seems to be on my floor. I live on G3 which is the 3rd floor and on the G wing side. My wing as well as G2, and a few people on the H wings all have been diganosed with the FLU!!!!
It is insane. How Caryn and Steve live with 197 sick girls is beyond me. Caryn has it down to an art.....DRINK WATER, WASH YOUR HANDS, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING AFTER YOU COUGH, and of course GO TO BED!!!! The provider of Pepto Bismol, Lysol, the thing that takes one temp...(we will be here all night if I try and spell it out.)
We will all get through this...I am not sure if I will get through it because I seem to be the only one with BOTH kinds of FLU...I am a medical mystery...Dr Newcome just shakes her head and goes on:P:P:P
