84 days and counting....

Here are the lastest pictures of the "little man." He is pretty laid back right now. Katie wishes he would sleep at night, but other than that he is healthy. Right now he weights about 4 and a half pounds.....SO they say? He STILL has no name.....so right now he goes by "little man"....will will tell you.....it is between Aiden Shane, Shane Michael, and Aiden Lee..........we will know in March I guess:)

Airport Sitting.....

Here I sit at one of the two different airports I will be in today. Abe Lincoln is SMALL compared to even the Rapid City, South Dakota airport.
Getting to the gate gets more ridiculous eachtime I fly anywhere. I was able to carry both my "luggage" and my backpack. However, I lost a half of tube of toothpaste and a plastic Target bag. I am not the smartest traveler anyway, so all this confusion of shoes off, on the belt, the computer in a bin and only a few things you can take on board is silly, though I see the point.

As I sit and ponder this trip to North Carolina I am getting more and more excited. I get to see the people I spent all summer with, who watched me grow, and who helped shaped me into who I am today. I am excited to met the Director of SummerShine, and of course I am excited to get out of this Illinois weather. However, I do leave a few family members that have had surgery, and pregnant almost sister in law, and a job that REALLY needs people there. I did make a commitment to myself though, and that is to have fun. I may not get to see this group of people for a long time after this trip, so I am going to have fun. The phone will be right next to me at all times, and I know I can be on the next flight home if needed:)

I will post as I can thoughout the trip. I do ask that you all keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I am traveling alone, and I have a three hour layover in Chicago...a MUCH bigger airport then the one I am in right now:)

My friend, my sister Kim Kersey....

Kim Kersey is one of my G3 sisters. We were neighbors last year and she has quite the personality. She loves to laugh, yell, sing, dance, and anything else you can think of. She is a strong woman of God, and I am so blessed to know her....

...however today she is in surgery to remove what they didnt remove of her thyroid yesterday. It has been confirmed that Kim has cancer. A mass was found during a physical for basketball.

I would like to post the all campus email from first the Dean of Acedemics here on campus:

Family—
Kim Kersey had surgery today to remove her thyroid gland and lymph gland on the right side of her neck.
She came through the surgery very well.
She will be released in the morning and will await word tomorrow afternoon on the pathology report.
All are hopeful that she will not have to undergo further surgery and that the left thyroid will not need to be removed.

The family is deeply appreciative of your prayers, calls and messages.

this is what we woke up to this morning from our Head Resident Caryn Collins:

I talked with Kim's mom this morning. The results of her tests came back showing that she does have cancer. They will operate today to remove the rest of her thyroid. Beyond that, no one knows yet what they will do or how they will treat it. Pray for Kim and for her family in Tuscola...and for youselves as your sister has a difficult road to travel. Please know that the travel is easier when we do it together.

Candra has four beautiful kids. Kenzie is 10, Max is 9, Mason is 8, and little Mark (Bear) is 5....they LOVE us, but there are two that hangs out more with us then the other two.....they all four melt my heart, give me hugs, and help me LAUGH often......

SFG Christmas Party...

Every student, faculty and staff memeber here at LCC is required to be in an "SFG" a Spiritual Formation Group. We meet once a week and talk, read the bible, a devotion, create many laughs, tears, prayer, jokes, and pretty much have fun. My SFG is lead by Candra Landers, she is the Service Learning coordnaitor....basically in charge of getting Week of E stuff taken care of and service learning taken care of. Anyway our group consits of 6 girls and Candra. We read decided to read a book this semester and then talk about it...and see how it applies to our life.

This past Monday was our Christmas party, dinner, and a movie. We also have a dinner and movie night once a month. We had a lot of fun with dinner, gifts, a movie, and having fun with Candra's kids.

Anderson is a GOOD baby. The only thing he does is sleep. His sisters however.....Elli is 4 going on 14, Addi left a baby when they went to Ohio and came back a walking, talking very HAPPY toddler.

It has been a blast being with them this semester, but I am done keeping them. It really hit me when I said "you guys have a good Thanksgiving, and Elli said "Danielle have a great Thanksgiving I love you!" Addi said "I ya ew". I love them so much!!!!!

Mission Project...

I will be posting a more indepth blog SOON....but heres what I got right now at 3:52 a.m.

Over 2 weeks of doing research, and many hours in the Jesse C. Eury Library and countless hours of NO sleep
over 60.00 in printer ink.
Charts after charts about religion, government, geographics, and news articles...
A few tears, many curse words, and a LOT of smiles and laughes with my roommate....

....we can turn this project in on time with the feeling of FREAKIN PROUD of ourselves:)

sNOw...

Well it is that time of year alomost....SNOW...its coming. I like the snow AFTER it is done falling, there is NO ice, and the sun is shining down on it.

Last semester we had a snow storm that closed the college for a day....and then the ice....there is always something. However, a few days ago in Rapid City South Dakota...where I spent my summer....got a WHOPPING 13 inches....in 24 hours....in Spearfish, South Dakota has snow drifts of 6 feet high...

So...its coming, and I am SO not ready....I work an hour of school, and its all interstate....I STRONGLY dislike driving in this mess......

Update on Anderson...

A few people have asked about little Anderson, so I wanted to take time to compile an update...

Anderson is now in the hospital in Quincy, which is closer to home for the Penrod's...Christian is a minister in La Grange, Missouri..which is right outside of Hannibal....15 minutes from Quincy...you with me here...MUCH closer then Springfield.

Anderson is doing really well. The latest email I have gotten is that he is eating most of his meals from a bottle, and Jenny has been able to start breastfeeding but they still have him close to a feeding tube if he needs it.

Elli and Addi have been in Ohio with their grandparents for the last 3 WEEKS...I have not seen them for 3 weeks and I am starting to have withdraws...I MISS them:) I miss the laughs, the smiles, and the arguing with Elli....she is 4 but has the mind of a 14 year old....:)

I cannot wit to see them hopefully next week!!!!! There are LEAVES to play in, and I cannot very well play in them with my friends....:)

The night before Halloween I went out to dinner with my mom and my grandparents on my mom's side, and sister. Of course I had to go back to mom's since I never see my sister and she was off...so we decorated pumpkins, watched a movie, and she helped me write a paper...it was crazy fun like it was back in the day.....

Election 2008.....

I am not one that is all about politics however my friends are, and I have heard every reason under the sun on why I should vote for one over the other. Too be honest its rather annnoying. I remember back when I was younger politics were soemthing you didn't talk to anyone about...let alone ASK who someone was voting for.
My generation is completly different. I know people who put down others for being Democrat or Republican, and beat you with the reasons WHY you should vote the other...

Here is what I as a 26 year old female college student has observed over the last few months...

I am SO glad we didnt watch television over the summer. I am SICK of the media coverage...I cannot check my email without some kind of election 08 message.
Both Obama and McCain say one thing...but we ALL know or should know they are going to do something completly different in office.
Too me they both are alittle sketchy...
HISTORY is going to be made whoever is in the office...it already has...Obama is black....and Sarah Palin is a WOMAN....therefore in January this country is going to be ruled by a black man...or a WOMAN...

I know who I am voting for...I am not going to disclose it because I am kinda stuck in that WHY should I tell people...its MY right to vote for whoever I want to.

In the end...I am voting for the guy I think is going to NOT mess this country up anymore....but really....they will....

Anderson Elias Penrod...

I have mentioned before that I sit with a couple that is in the seminary here at school. Jenny and Christian welcomed their third baby into the world on Monday. He was a little guy only weighing 3 pound and 7 ounces, and 16.5 inches long. He was due December 18th, but deicded he was ready in October.

The last I knew Anderson was doing well. Breathing on his own, eating very well, and is off all the machines he was on from the time he was born.

He will be in the hospital for at least 4 more weeks, and once he is able to maintian his weight, and if he keeps eating as well as he has been he will be able to come home and enjoy his first holiday:) Keep them in your prayers. Elli is 4, Addi is almost 2, and Addi has some delays because she was born eariler then her brother, but is starting to walk, and talk a little more each week that I have her:)

As of right now his name is Shane Michael (or Shane Michael Charles.) It may change, but most likely he is Shane:)

He already has his first hockey outfit...I guess my life will forever be spent in a hockey arena!!!

...and I will be buying him his first Cards, Colts, and Illini shirt....he may NEVER get to wear them, but we cannot corrupt him with Cubs, Bears, and Michigan nonsense...

5 weeks of randomness...

We have been back in school for 5 weeks and it hit me last night that I am BACK in school. I was up until 2 am writing a paper, got to bed, realized I forgot to take my medicine climbed BACK down from the loftedness took the medicine climbed back up...forgot to press play on the DVD player....are you getting where I am going. This happens every night. RANDOM stuff. Forgetting to brush my teeth, forgetting to take a shower...YES it has happened...remembering I need to do laundry because I need clean pants to wear to Target...chasing down the dorm mom for quarters...then leaving the clothes in the basket for two days because you remembered you have a prayer journal to write, a Hebrew quiz to study for, and a scripture journal to submit all beforemidnight.
